You can make a difference by supporting my ministry
My name is Flavia Sumandea, a Romanian by origin, and now from Portland Oregon. For the next three years I am responding to a call I sense to serve Jesus among vulnerable Roma children in Galati, Romania. These children come from families who live in extreme poverty, lacking support from the government and society who are at risk for dropping out of school and often end up begging on the streets.
My commitment is to work full time as a field staff with Word Made Flesh community. Having worked with them during the summers of 2018 and 2019, I was very impacted by their effective approach to restore dignity and create a space where the children have an opportunity to grow and become responsible individuals in society. This support is offered through a community day center where the children are provided with the most basic needs including hot meals, showers, assistance with homework, meaningful social interactions and a knowledge of biblical principles.
My commitment is dependent on the support of individuals who have a similar calling to reach out but are not in a position to be there physically.
